Victorian and Edwardian Tile Cleaning
After many years of neglect, in some cases having been discovered under carpets or vinyl flooring, the tiles could look to be in very bad shape. They will often be ingrained with dirt or covered with paint, adhesives and old waxes.
A strong alkali based chemical is used to help remove most of these substances and after cleaning, a sealant is applied to help protect the tiles, which tend to be fairly absorbant, from further staining.
At times some tiles may need to be replaced, if they are stained with oil for example, but in most cases they can be cleaned up and brought back to their original and often rich and vibrant colours.
